Former Tanjung Umno Youth Chief Made Penang New DCM1 April 12, 2009

PKR state assemblyman for Batu Maung, Abdul Malik Abul Kassim, has been named as the new Penang Deputy Chief Minister 1, replacing Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin who is now under investigations by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency for graft.

The party’s state liaison committee meeting chaired by its supreme leader Anwar Ibrahim had unanimously named Abdul Malik for the post left vacant by Fairus since April 8.

Abdul Malik was Umno Tanjung division youth chief before his fallout with Umno and joined PKR after Anwar formed the party following his sacking from Umno and Deputy Prime Minister.

Congratulations to Abdul Malik and the people, especially the Malays in Penang, will watch him closely to see his performance.

We want to see if Abdul Malik is a man of vision and mission. I had the opportunity to speak with him on several occasions before the last general election..

Honestly, I fancy that he too would not be a good leader but I do not want to judge a book by its cover.

Well, what choice does Anwar have as there are only two Malay PKR assemblymen he could choose from to fill up the post. The other being Sungai Bakap state assemblyman Maktar Shafee, considered a novice in politics.

Politically, the Deputy Chief Minister 1 post is allocated for a Malay in PKR, a pact and understanding made by Pakatan-Rakyat before the 12th general election.

Fairus was a total flop, a disgrace and he exited from the state government in humiliation. A corruption case is pending against him and he may be charged this week.

It is no easy task to please the Malays in Penang. Most of them are divided, the mamaks at one corner, the “pure” Penang Malays at another corner and a group of Malays from outside Penang who have settled down in the state at another end.

Let us see if Abdul Malik becomes the scumbag or the “blue-eye” boy of Anwar Ibrahim.

Four Umno Ministers and 11 Deputy Ministers Are Likely To Be Dropped In Najib’s Cabinet Reshuffle March 30, 2009

A MORE DISCIPLINED UMNO NOW after the party’s historic elections and assembly which ended last Saturday.

Party members and newly elected Umno bigwigs have enunciated in unison to change and to be with the rakyat.

They sang to the tune of the party’s new president Datuk Seri Najib that the party must change or it will be changed.

They have also pledged undivided support and loyalty to Najib and concur with him that changes must come within the party first before they can convince and persuade the people to be with Umno.

The presence of Tun Dr M at the assembly is a sign of his endorsement for the new party leadership and his statement to rejoin Umno makes Najib’s task easier and uncomplicated now. Tun Dr M has been the vocal critic of Pak Lah’s leadership.

But the show of support from the rakyat has yet to be seen despite talks that most of them are happy with Najib’s new team in Umno and his pledge to reform the party.

The tri-elections in Bukit Gantang, Bukit Selambau and Batang Ai will be the first testing grounds to measure the rakyat’s support for Najib when he assumes office next week.

His new Cabinet line-up will be another proof to the rakyat if he is indeed walking his talk about reforms and changes.

The much-anticipated new Cabinet reshuffle is expected to be announced by Najib just before polling day for the three by-elections on April 7.

We know that several Ministers will be axed including Datuk Shahrir Samad, Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop and Tan Sri Muhamad Muhamad Taib.

They are old guards in Umno and have to go in line with the changes and reforms. Datuk Azalina who is being investigated for money politics is also not likely to be in the new line-up.

Umno Deputy Ministers who are likely to be dropped are Datuk Johari Baharom, Senator Datuk Dr Mashitah Ibrahim, Datuk Paduka Rohani Abdul Karim, Datuk Razali Ismail, Datuk Wira Abu Seman Yusof, Datuk Seri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Abdul Taib, Noriah Kasnon, Fadillah Yusof, Datuk Hamzah Zainuddin and Datuk Saifuddin abdullah.

The ministers and deputy ministers were either aligned to Pak Lah or appointed based on recommendations from Level 4.

We truly hope the reign of Level 4 in the government’s administration will be a thing of the past and remain history.

The tri-elections will be the right platforms for Umno to redeem its dented pride and smugness.

A Significant Change In Umno Except In Pemuda March 26, 2009

Everyone else in Umno is heading for a change except those in Pemuda.

The victory of KJ (Khairy Jamaludin), the infamous son-in-law of outgoing Prime Minister in a dramatic contest for the coveted Umno youth chief post last night, spells trouble for the party.

“I don’t understand and I don’t know why it happened,” lamented a former division youth chief who witnessed the announcement for the youth contest results at PWTC.

It will be a heavy task for President-elect Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, to reform the party with KJ around.

Many shook their heads in disbelief that the once “untouchable” boy had won the post.

I was a bit worried at first when I sent an SMS to a friend who was vying for the youth exco post to find out the initial results for the youth chief post.

He replied, “KJ leading,” and true enough he won when the results were made public shortly after 11pm.

The way KJ and his supporters celebrated his win on stage even before the results were announced also spoke full of arrogance and haughtiness.

Thumping his chest and commanding people from the stage were scenes loathed by viewers who saw live telecast of the results on TV.

Umno, through the disciplinary board, had missed the golden opportunity to discipline this boy when they let him off with only a warning despite implicating him for money politics.

The task now in on Najib who will address Umno delegates in his maiden speech as the country’s 6th Prime Minister this Saturday to clip KJ’s wings.

KJ may win the hearts and support of his errands and cronies in Pemuda but this doesn’t mean that the rakyat is also behind him.

I am not wrong if I say that many of the rakyat abhor when you mention the name KJ.

The question now is will Najib include Khairy in his new Cabinet line-up?

Better Late Than Never For Umno March 26, 2009

AT LAST, Pak Lah reaffirms that his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak would takeover as Umno president and Prime Minister as planned.

His reaffirmation has put to rest weeks of speculations and all tittle-tattle shrouding uncertainties that he may not hand over the Prime Ministership to Najib.

“Nothing could stop the handover from taking place,” he said at a Press Conference after a closed-door meeting with Umno delegates at PWTC on Tuesday.

His statement to the Press has made Najib’s task straightforward, allowing him to carry out reforms and changes in the party as he had pledged during his speech when opening the party’s Wanita, Youth and Puteri’s delegates conference on the same day.

So, I hope Pak Lah’s family members, cronies and close friends will stop any attempt to derail the power transition. They are now history in Umno’s book.

Pak Lah also expressed his unhappiness that certain quarters in Umno had unduly pressed for a transfer of power.

“Yes (I was offended). I know what I am supposed to do. I don’t have to be disturbed,” he was quoted as saying.

It is Najib’s game now. Najib has to put Umno’s house in spanking condition first before he steers Barisan Nasional and the country to a new epoch.

Najib has to tighten all lose ends as well as clean up all relics and thrash left by Pak Lah his infamous son-in-law KJ, seems as a gargantuan task for him to do.

Historically, Umno has never suffered a severe beating from the rakyat before Pak Lah introduced KJ into mainstream politics.

I remembered my Umno division chief friend grumbling that he was forced to nominate KJ for the post of youth deputy chief as he did not want to go against the order from Level 4 and the “traffic flow”.

This was at a time when KJ reigned in Umno and labeled as the “untouchable boy” on Level 4, a cynical term always referred by Tun Dr M, who commanded not only Umno but the government machinery.

The big question now is can Najib translate his pledge into practice. Will the 3 million Umno members embrace the reforms and changes demanded by Najib to make the party relevant to the Malays.

“Change from being aloof to be friendly, from being self-centred to putting interest of the people above our own, from laziness to diligence and from being the required minimum to embracing a passion for service.”

This is only a small fraction of Najib’s demand but it sounds gargantuan..

We hope Najib’s pledge will not remain as rhetoric as what had happened in previous Umno general assemblies. We hope all the fiery and sizzling debates will not remain as speechifying.

But I still believe that it is better late than never.

The Melayu That Will Remain As In Baju Melayu and Keretapi Tanah Melayu March 10, 2009

I will not mention the title Datuk Seri when I mention Anwar Ibrahim’s name in my write-ups as it is not because I hate him so much but I don’t think he deserves the title.

For the second time in a month, the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has condemned Anwar and his supporters for being rude, ill mannered and unabashed, given that they had been nurtured from the time of their ancestors in the customs and traditions, good behavior and courteousness.

The Sultan is irate with the recent political turmoil caused by Anwar and those who had constantly provoked and questioned the position and constitutional rights of the Malay rulers.

Sultan Sharafuddin said though the Malays would not be eliminated from the earth, it would be pointless for them to remain as an uncivilised and unrespected society that can be easily manipulated by others.

Anwar was instrumental in acceding to Karpal Singh’s daring statement challenging the Sultan of Perak.

Anwar is also behind the racial statements and slurs made by Chinese and Indian leaders against the Malays.

Anwar is the perpetrator behind the orchestrated court cases filed by the defunct Perak state assembly speaker V. Sivakumar and former Mentri Besar Nizar Jamaludin and others challenging the rights of the Sultan of Perak.

The habitual sodomite is also the culprit causing the split among the Malays in this country.

I agree with Sultan Sharifuddin that Melayu will not be extinct from the earth. What I am worried is that it will only remain as the Melayu in baju Melayu and Keretapi Tanah Melayu.

Dissenting In PKR Penang Worsens March 4, 2009

The current political storm has not only swept the former ‘Tin Mine’ state of Perak but the tempest is also brewing in Penang.

Dissenting in PKR Penang is reaching its peak following the latest expulsion of Zainal Abidin Saad who was Special Officer to Mohamad Fairus Khairuddin, the beleaguered Penang Deputy chief Minister. Zainal was “fired” by his boss Fairus, on February 9, the seventh officer axed by Fairus since he assumed office about a year ago. Zainal, who is Anwar’s close aide, has sworn that he would take on Fairus in the next general election if Fairus decides to defend his Penanti state seat.

PKR Batu Uban state assemblyman Abdul Malik Kassim has taken over the portfolio of state Islamic Religious Committee chairman from Fairus who was recently dropped from the post. State PKR chairman Zahrain Hashim confirmed this after his meeting with Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng. The long-standing feud and power struggle between Abdul Malik and Fairus saw the former emerging as winner as Fairus has fallen out of favor not only with his boss Anwar, but also Guan Eng.

Guan Eng has lost for words on how to discipline Fairus as Fairus is not under his purview politically but was chosen by Anwar to warm the Deputy Chief Minister’s seat which was allocated to PKR under the Pakatan-Rakyat power sharing concept.

Guan Eng was also caught with his pants down when Fairus was implicated in a corruption case exposed by PKR’s national exco youth member Amizudin Ahmad who was former Seberang Perai Municipal councillor in his no-holds barred Press conference recently.

Well, it is time for Guan Eng, who has been talking about his CAT (Competency, Accountability and Transparency) philosophy to walk the talk and take action against Fairus. But does Guan Eng have the political will to do so?

Lets Hope The April Fool Joke Will Be On Anwar March 3, 2009

I sighed a huge relief when I heard news that our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi reaffirms his commitment to hand over power to his deputy, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Of course, the people are apprehensive, as they have heard nothing about power transition between the No 1 and No 2.

All they heard was speculations, rumors and gossips about how Pak Lah wanted to cling on to power despite having less than a month in office.

Pak Lah said he would stick to the plan to hand over the prime ministership to Najib.

“That is the plan that I have made, so we will have to follow the plan,” Pak Lah was quoted as saying by the all the newspapers.

We hope he will honor his promises as anything can happen in this crucial one-month period. I believe it will be the longest one-month in Najib’s life but let’s pray to Allah that Najib will eventually assume the No 1 post after the next Umno general assembly.

This literally means that Najib will officially assumes office on April 1. I hope it will not turn out to be an APPRIL FOOL joke.

It will be a crushing blow for the Opposition, especially habitual sodomite, Anwar Ibrahim, as he was hoping that Pak Lah would remain in office so that he could continue to wreak havoc and tear the nation into pieces through his divide and rule stratagem.

It is time that Anwar and his supporters realize that he is not THE FACTOR that determines the future and course of the country. It is the people who will ultimately decide who should lead the country and what they want the country to be like.

Come April 1, the joke will be on Anwar and not Najib.

The Singh Is Sickening February 27, 2009

Singh is King? I nearly burst into laughter when I saw the headlines in the local newspapers yesterday (Thursday).

It should actually read “Singh Is Sickening.”

I think the cunning Karpal Singh is insinuating to the Agong or Sultan that he is actually the ruler and not them.

This is another “kurang ajar” statement from the DAP national chairman.

The “bangali” is using his immunity as an MP to say that he is the King when he spoke in the Dewan Rakyat.

No wonder 100 police reports had been lodged against him for his insulting statements and ill-mannered behavior against the Perak Sultan and the Malays.

As a seasoned lawyer, Karpal should know that whatever he says and does in public would have great consequences, what more when it involves the Malay rulers’ institution.

He should not blame others if action is taken against him and he is put behind bars.

And the police, based on the 100 police reports, have recommended to the Attorney-General, to charge him with sedition for incitement to rebellion.

So, let’s see if Karpal will become a King or a tamed Singh.

Pak Lah Wants To Remain In Office? February 25, 2009

I hope I heard it correctly. Pak Lah’s residence in Sungai Penchala, somewhere near Bandar Baru Damansara, has been turned into a headquarters by his cronies in Umno and family members to plot a strategy to retain him in office after the party’s general assembly next month.

The house has been used as a meeting point almost every night for them to demand support from Umno leaders to retain the Prime Minister in office. There is some truth in this as until today, Pak Lah has not said anything about transferring of power to his deputy.

Obviously, the rakyat is a bit apprehensive as Pak Lah is keeping quiet about how he wants to transfer the power to Datuk Seri Najib.

There was also news weeks back that KJ is planning to hold a nationwide campaign to get support from Umno members to rally behind Pak Lah and demand his father-in-law to remain as Prime Minister.

If Pak Lah is successful in his bid to hold power, it will be another unmitigated disaster to the country. I hope the news is another hoax but I cannot deny that there is some truth in it. I am worried.
