Haq Char Yaar (Urdu: حق چار یار ) (meaning rightous four friends) is reference to first four Caliph of Islam. They are Sayyidina Abu Bakr, Sayyidina Umar, Sayyidina Uthman and Sayyidina Ali.
Of the four great Caliphs of Islam, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng chose to adopt the administrative style of Umar, or also known as Umar the Great or Farooq the Great. Umar was the most powerful of the four Rashidun Caliphs and one of the most powerful and influential Muslim rulers.

Lim was impressed with Umar while he was under ISA detention, especially when he discovered through his readings that Umar was an expert jurist and is best known for his justice with Muslims and non-Muslims subjects alike, that earned him the title Al-Farooq (The one who distinguishes between good and bad) and his house as Darul Adal (house of justice). Also, Umar was the first Caliph to be called Amir al-Mu’minin, commander of the faithful.

Umar’s name was not only used by Lim to be popular and deceive the rakyat. He even introduced many other slogans including
Competency, Accountability and Transparency (CAT) and amal makruf nahi mungkar (do good and do no evil) in his administration.

Lim brags about how he would infuse Umar’s good values in his administration to inspire the people and promotes his other jingles.

However, Lim did not only walk his talk but had tarnished the good name of Umar and ridiculed Islam in way when he lied to the state assembly and the people over the conversion issue of a piece of land in George Town.

He was caught with his pants down when he was found lying and misleading the House by Pulau Betong state assemblyman Muhamad Farid Saad during the recent state assembly proceeding.
Farid had accused Lim of trying to conceal the facts from the House when Lim said the issue of land conversion for the PDC Heritage Hotel Sdn Bhd would be referred to the National Land Council next month when actually Lim had already approved the land conversion for the project in June.

The proposed hotel project is a joint-venture between YTL Corporation Berhad (51%) and PDC (49%). PDC is the investment arm of the state government.

PDC heritage Hotel would be building luxurious condominiums and an eatery on a seafront site adjacent to the 124-year-old Eastern and Oriental Hotel in Lebuh Farquhar in Penang.

Lim has been keeping quiet and has not blown his own trumpet since the land controversy came to light a month ago. Unlike before, he has been silent about his clean, trustworthy and graft-free administration. The writing is on the wall. Lim is a man with a forked-tongue and could not be trusted. Lim is tasting the bitterness of his own medicine.

Zahrain’s RM2 Company October 1, 2009

Former Tanjung Umno division chief Datuk Mohamad Zahrain Hashim who is now Parti Keadilan Rakyat Penang chairman is doing it again.  All talks on transparency and accountability in the Pakatan-led government are actually a horde of lies and deception to mislead and hoodwink the rakyat.

Everyone in Penang knows who Zahrain is and how corrupt he was when he helmed Tanjung Umno and Penang Port Sdn Bhd. The tender for the purchase of gangtry cranes worth some RM44mil for Penang port ended his political career in Umno and resulted in his contract as PPSB executive chairman hot being renewed by the Transport Ministry.

Zahrain was also responsible for the creation of phantom Umno members in Tanjung to strengthen his position. Of course with the help and advice of his buddy, Ibrahim Daging. Both of them worked hand-in-glove and used the names of dead people and schoolchildren in Umno membership application forms. The names of the dead and schoolchildren were discovered by a pro-tem committee set up to probe the phantom member issue. It was headed by Tan Sri Khalid and assisted by the late Cikgu Karim, the former Tanjung Umno secretary.

The division chief now, Datuk Ahmad Ibni Hajar is aware of the story and can tell you in detail. He was the vice-chairman when Zahrain was heading the division.  Ahmad was handpicked by Anwar Ibrahim to replace Zahrain, the post he had held for the past 12 years.

Well, that was some of the filthy activities and works done by  Zahrain when he was heading Tanjung Umno and the port.  He has never repented and is not remorseful.

He is trying to do it again now.  Recently, he formed a RM2 company under his son’s name in a bid to secure a contract for the maintenance and upkeep of the Bukit Jambul Golf and Country Club in Bayan Lepas where the Equatorial Hotel is located. Zahrain who is the club’s president is abusing his power to get the tender for his son.

Unfortunately, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng got wind of his attempt and demanded to see Zahrain personally for an explanation. I do not know the date of the meeting but sources in the Chief Minister’s office said they had yet to meet.

Guan Eng is fuming mad over the matter and had scolded Zahrain over the phone.  Zahrain did not utter a word when he was given tongue-lashing by Guan Eng but boasted that he would fight Guan Eng when they meet. That’s Zahrain. He pretends to portray himself as a fierce and firm leader but in reality, is timid and apprehensive about meeting Guan Eng.

Zahrain’s  PKR colleague, Abdul Malik Kassim,  or better known as Malik Lim for doing nothing except praising Guan Eng is waiting for the right time to expose the new scandal. It is an open secret that Zahrain and Malik Lim who is a state exco cannot see eye to eye.

We hope Lim will expose the true colours of Pakatan-Rakyat leaders involved in misconduct and abuse of power if he really advocates his CAT philosophy and not just dig the past and continue with his witch-hunting agenda of the previous state government.

Selamat Hari Raya to all friends and readers. I wish you all Salam AidilFitri and Maaf Zahir Batin. For those who have been offended or hurt by my writings or comments in this blog, my apologies to you However I will continue to write the truth and without fear or favour.

I have not heard about Guan Eng for quite sometimes until recently when I met a friend from Penang for a Kopitiam on the 6th Hari Raya.Well, our topics of discussions were mostly focussed on Penang, Guan Eng and his deputy Dr Mansor Osman.

Dr Mansor (right) and his predecessor Fairus khairudinHe could not hide his frustrations over Dr Mansor’s inept and lackadaisical attitude, someone who is being looked upon and hoped for by the Malays to protect their interests and future following the disgrace downfall of his predecessor Mohamad Fairus Khairuddin.

Dr MansorHe told me that Dr Mansor who holds the exco portfolio of Industries could not even tell the difference between SME and SMI. What a joke and mockery. What more when Penang is famously known as the Silicone Valley of the country.  I wonder how Dr Mansor handles and briefs trade delegations from overseas when he does not even know what is SME and the definition of SMI.

It is even more frustrating when Dr Mansor’s refused to pursue proposals to put the Malays in a better economic position.  Of course, the Malays could not hope anything from Guan Eng when it comes to politics and economic agenda for Penang. But what is Dr Mansor doing and what are his plans for the Malays after taking over the deputy chief minister’s post four months ago.

He even snubbed a proposal from one Professor Dr Jamaludin from Universiti Sains Malaysia who met him at his office just before the Ramadan. The professor had given a detailed briefing on how to improve the socio-economy of Penang Malays based on his research and studies.

Instead of considering the proposal and asking him to fine-tune, Dr Mansor told his officers “Tak Payahlah” or “No need”.  I am lost for words to describe the despicable attitude of a Malay leader like Dr Mansor. I believe words must have spread by now how Dr Jamaludin was treated by another former colleague.

Well, I hope this bit of information about Dr Mansor will help you realise what he is capable of.  I believe Dr Mansor, who is Anwar Ibrahim’s buddy, has nothing to offer you but is merely put up there to be used as a tool by Anwar and Guan Eng.

To Dr Mansor, the political survival of these two Pakatan leaders is more important, significant and above the future and interest of 650,000-odd Penang Malays and their children.

It Is Very Costly If You Believe In Anwar July 11, 2009

Kg Buah Pala Folks“Vote us to power and the land is yours.” That was the promise and assurance given by Anwar Ibrahim when he met residents in the controversial Kampung Buah Pala during his campaign trail in Penang before the March 8 General Election.

They have never heard from him since then.

That is typical of Anwar, giving empty promises and hopes to the people. Many promises and hopes were also given to the Malays when he was in Umno, the party he was supposed to helm after Dr Mahathir but nothing turned into reality.

And now the Indians in Kampung Buah Pala are hounding Anwar for that promise.

They can wait until doomsday for the promise and hope that will never come.

They have only themselves to blame for believing in Anwar. They must remember that Anwar is now too busy with his sodomy trial and does not have even a second to attend to their problem.

In fact, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has been caught off guard with the promise and hope given by Anwar to the residents.

Guan Eng is lost and did not know what to do now. His attempt to shift the problem to the federal government was rebuked as the matter is under the purview of his state government.

The contentious Kampung Buah Pala is under the Bukit Gelugor parliamentary constituency where Karpal Singh is the MP. But residents there have not sighted his presence in the area since the issue cropped up a month ago.

It seems that the issue is too hot, even for someone like Karpal to handle.

Residents in the village have also prohibited Seri Delima state assemblyman, R.S..N. Rayer from entering the village.

The OasisRayer has been reported to have made a remark “Over my dead body” to the developer Nusmetro Ventures which had earmarked to village for a residential project named The Oasis.

He was barred because he talks too much but no action seen taken by him.

This is the heavy price the Kampung Buah Pala residents have to pay for believing into Anwar and Pakatan Rakyat.

We hope they have learnt their lesson well.

Lim’s Big “Pening Kepala” Over Kg Buah Pala Issue July 8, 2009

While Penang is famous for nutmeg fruit (buah pala), the controversial Kampung Buah Pala, also known as Penang’s High Chaparral, is very much synonym with Bukit Gelugor.

But I am not sure if the village falls under the Bukit Gelugor parliament constituency where DAP chairman Karpal Singh is the MP.

Mostly Indians inhibit Kampung Buah Pala. They deemed and considered the area as heritage, except that the land they are occupying doesn’t belong to them.

More Cows than Residents?Residents there also rear cows which sometimes become nuisance to those staying nearby, especially folks in Bukit Gelugor. This is the reason why the village is called High Chaparral. Maybe they are more cows than human beings living in the area.

Who have the rights?Kampung Buah Pala is now involved in a controversy. Residents there have been issued with eviction notice as the landowner, Nusmetro Ventures, is planning to build a condominium on that disputed land.

Nusmetro Ventures is a Penang-based company with its office in Jelutong. You can see the office clearly if you drive along the Jelutong Expressway towards Georgetown.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has been caught off-guard with the issue. He doesn’t know what to do.

He is vacillating whether to fight for Kg Buah Pala residents or defending the rights of Numestro, the landowner.

Don't Play-playLim cannot be seen siding the developer as he would be labeled as betraying the rakyat. He cannot be seen championing the residents as the court had made decision in favor of the company.

The issue has caused Lim to suffer serious “Pening Kepala.” The problem could have been solved if BN was still in control of the state.

The Kg Buah Pala residents have only themselves to be blamed for allowing PR to take control of Penang.

So, what is Lim going to do next. Let us watch and see.

Lim And Anwar’s Interpretation Of Press Freedom June 8, 2009

What sort of press freedom is Lim Guan Eng promoting and advocating?

Press freedom to serve their political interest and agenda or freedom of the press that is truly free and fair?

Lim and his buddy Anwar Ibrahim are quick to demonize Barisan Nasional and UMNO for controlling, twisting and spinning the mainstream media, i.e. Utusan Malaysia, the Media Prima conglomerate and those operating in Angkasapuri, against them.

Often at news conferences held by either Lim or Anwar, they will take a swipe at reporters from the mainstream media for concocting stories against them.

Of late, they have taken a more extreme approach by banning reporters from Utusan and the New Straits Times from covering events held by the state government.

The latest incident happened at the swearing-in of the new MPSP president Mokhtar Mohd Jait where the assistant bureau chief from Utusan Hasnurul Mohamad was asked to leave Lim’s press conference.

Hasnurul complained that Lim’s special office Wong Kim Fei, had approached her twice, one during Mokhtar’s swearing-in ceremony, to tell her that she was not invited.

“How can this bloody Wong said such thing to me and embarassed me infront of the others,” Hasnurul who was fuming mad told one of reporters who was also covering the event on Thursday.

She was again chased away by this Wong when she sat in Lim’s Press conference.

Another reporter who sitting besides Hasnurul attempted to defend Hasnurul and argued with Lim but Lim cut short the episode by saying that he was merely following instructions from Anwar.

What a joke! Lim could not even gave satisfactory reply when he was cornered by the reporter who asked him if it would cause harm to him and the state government by the mere presence of Hasnurul at his press conference.

He blamed Anwar when he was caught off guard and likewise, Anwar would use Lim as his excuse when a similar incident happened during his press conferences.

For the record, reporters in The New Straits Times are still being prohibited to do coverage on the state government’s functions and events until today.

I wonder what sort of press freedom are they talking about during their rally and ceramahs when they do not even know its real definition.

Maybe to them, press freedom is when only something good is written about them.

Lim Guan Eng To PKR MPSP Councilors: Jangan Berlagak (Do Not Show Off) June 4, 2009

The boycott by eight PKR MPSP councilors during the swearing-in of Mokhtar Mohd Jait as the new MPSP president is attestation that PKR leaders are power craze. Mokhtar, 53, the former Seberang Perai Utara district officer was appointed by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and was endorsed by PKR new Deputy Chief Minister 1 Dr Mansor Othman. However, the appointment had broken the camel’s back (in this case the camel is PKR whip in MPSP Johari Kassim), as he has been eyeing the post since last year. Johari had led six other friends, except Farid Arshad, to show their dissent by boycotting the ceremony at MPSP head office in Bandar Baru Perda in Bukit Mertajam. Farid who attended the ceremony said he did not agree with what they did as the appointment is the prerogative of Lim as the Chief Minister. “I am insisting that the post belongs to PKR,” Johari said when met by the media before the swearing-in ceremony on Thursday (June 4). Johari statement sounds funny, as there is not provision in the laws to say that the MPSP post belongs to the party. “We have said it from day 1 when the PR government was formed in Penang that the post belongs to us,” Johari said to the bemused newsmen. The visibly upset Lim also took a swipe at the PKR councilors when he said, ‘Jangan berlagak seperti exco kalau bukan exco,” Lim had apparently referring to the two PKT state excos who had agreed to Mokhtar’s appointment but not the eight councilors. This testifies that Johari being the PKR whip in MPSP is more interested to pursue his personal agenda and interests rather than to serve the rakyat. However, many of us fail to see this, as most of us are gullible and easily fooled by the PKR and its leaders. Let’s see if we are still naive and credulous in our judgment come July 1 when Anwr Ibrahim sodomy trial begins.

Does Anwar Really Care About PAS? May 6, 2009

WILL PAS help their comrades in Pakatan Keadilan Rakyat to win the Penanti by-election should the former fail to field a candidate?

PAS leaders in Penang are unhappy that their voices are not heard by the party’s top policy-making body, the so-called Dewan Syura Ulama.

They even claimed that the Dewan Syura Ulama is more than willing to lend ears to Anwar Ibrahim than their own leaders and members in deciding who should contest in the by-election.

Penang PAS deputy commissioner Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa is on fire when he told reporters at a Press conference that PKR had betrayed the trust of their supporters and is going against their own principles of democracy, transparency and good governance.

The sudden resignation of Fairus Khairuddin as Penanti assembly without good and valid reasons showed that PKR did not put importance on the support and voices of the people in Penanti.

“It is an act of betrayal. How can Fairus resign as and when he likes,” Mujahid said.

In short, what he is trying to say is that the seat does not belong to Fairus personally or PKR to inherit.

In fact, former Penang PAS youth leader Mohd Hafiz Mohd Nordin had made his stance clear before resigning from the post last week.

Mohd Hafiz was among the most vocal state leaders that want the party to contest in the by-election.

The question is, does Anwar bother or care much about the fuss the PAS leaders are making?

Anwar is busy lining up a series of by-elections by asking PKR state assembly representatives in constituencies he would determine to resign to gauge the people’s support for him before the next general election.

He has decided where these by-elections should be held, his battle plans and the effects of the by-elections.

HE HAS NEVER GIVEN UP HOPE TO BE THE PRIME MINISTER.

The recent reshuffle in the PKR leadership made by Anwar will lead to more by-elections to accommodate news leaders appointed by Anwar.

We must remember that Anwar is a master in political strategy and a guru in the divide and rule stratagem.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has to make his moves fast. He must be well-informed by his political advisors on Anwar’s game or he will be history in the next general election.

UMNO Scumbags In Penang April 22, 2009

We have a bunch of shamed and mortified Umno leaders in Penang who are lazier than donkeys but power craze like monkeys.

They have ganged up and issued a threat to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to appoint the state new Umno chairman of their choose or risked being boycotted if Najib selects a candidate of his choice.

They had held unofficial meetings to pick their own candidate for the post. I was informed that they want Bukit Mertajam Umno division chief Datuk Musa Sheikh Fadzir who is also the Aseania Group chairman.

We know whom Musa is aligned to. Non other than our failed and disgraced ex-Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who carried the image of ulamak but a scoundrel in reality.

I will elaborate to you later why I called him a scoundrel.

Musa has most Umno division chairmen in Penang to support him. Among the culprits who came up with the idea to issue the threat and boycott are Permatang Pauh Umno head Datuk Abdul Jalil Abdul Majid, Azhar Ibrahim (Opposition leader who is also Penang Umno secretary), Shahbudin Yahaya (Tasek Gelugor chief), Omar Fuadzar (Bukit Gelugor and Musa”s cousin), Datuk Rahim Saibo (Bayan Lepas), Datuk Nordin Kassim (Batu Kawan) and Datuk Ahmad Ibni Hajar (Tanjung).

These Umno blokes did not even lift their fingers to do anything after Penang was seized by Pakatan-Rakyat in the last general election.

In fact, none of them, except Seberang Jaya and Sungai Bakap state assemblymen, had done anything until today to plot or draw up strategies to re-coup Penang from PR.

They are acting as warlords in their own divisions. They even pressured Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop to appoint them as committee members in the state MTEN and for that, they now received RM500,000 annual grant each from the PM’s Department to organise their own programmes.

While Najib is making relentless efforts to WALK his TALK, this bunch of Umno scumbags are merely talking on how to plot strategy to enrich themselves and cling on to power as long as they live.

They deserve nothing but a boot out from Najib. Najib has to be tough and firm with these scumbags. He has to discipline them or the people will discipline him.

Our new Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak took less than a week to unveil his 28-member Cabinet team after he was sworn in. He also named 40 deputy ministers.

In is a stark contrast, Anwar Ibrahim could not even name the new Penang Deputy Chief Minister 1 after the one-week deadline given to him expired last Wednesday.

And the worst part is that he has only two candidates to choose from, his PKR state exco member Abdul Malik Abul Kassin or his Sungai Bakap state assemnlyman Maktar Shafee.

And yet, he could not even make up his mind. I reserve my comments on this as it clearly shows how incapable, indecisive and unqualified he is as a leader. I believe he is troubled and disturbed by his impending sodomy trial which will be heard soon.

A leader who is tainted will remain “stained and contaminated” for the rest of his/her life. No amount of regrets and guilt can cleanse the leader. This is the case of Bukit Lanjan state assemblywoman Elizabeth Wong who was stained after her nude pictures were circulated in the Internet forcing her to relinquish her state assembly post and resign as state assemblywoman on Feb 17.

Barely two months after that incident, the Bukit ter”Lanjan”g state rep is back in business and claimed that she has been stripped bare publicly, by force and against her will. Who stripped her in the first place? I don’t think anyone had stripped her.

Don’t you think that it was her own doing for showing her nakedness to her ex-boyfriend. She should not have blamed other people or circumstances for her own folly and stupidity. She is not a 10-year-old girl that needs to be told what is wrong and what is right. She is 37-year-old and a spinster For God’s sake, do we need to tell her to dress decorously when you are with another man who is not your husband.

Well, that is what Pakatan-Rakyat all about. They are quick to make judgment of immorality if it involves leaders from the ruling Government. What else can we say. I pity the Bukit Lanjan constituents for having a representative with forked tongue and whose moral is highly questionable.

So, what are you going to tell your kids if they ever asked you this question?
