Zaid – right candidate, wrong constituency? April 24, 2010

Zaid Ibrahim, the PKR candidate for Hulu Selangor, is known to be liberal, vocal and lacks the patience to attend to trivialities. He epitomises the phrase “what you see is what you get”.

This no-nonsense lawyer has made his mark from shooting from the hip, at everything in sight. In Umno, where he had stayed for 22 years, his achievements included suing the Kelantan and Terengganu state governments in 2002 to stop Hudud from being enforced in both states.

Soon after, the PAS leadership decreed that it was halal to vilify Zaid, claiming that Zaid is a munafik (hypocrite) and if he did not repent, he would cease to be a Muslim.

Moving on, Zaid finds himself in PKR after being dropped as a Minister by the BN Government and is likely going to be the man to take over from Anwar Ibrahim, the chief of PKR.

In fact, Anwar needs Zaid to be promoted within PKR as fast as possible so that Zaid’s authority will not be challenged by dissatisfied PKR aspirants.

That’s why Anwar handpicked Zaid to be the candidate for Hulu Selangor despite deafening protests by Selangor PKR leaders that a local leader such as Dr Halili Rahmat, who left the party on Tuesday, would have stood a better chance of winning.

PAS too is against Zaid’s candidacy as PAS supporters are not likely to vote for someone who had thwarted their intended Talibanisation of Kelantan and Terengganu.

PKR vice-president Azmin Ali is never in favour of Zaid. Azmin is eager to take over from Anwar and is not going to allow Zaid, who has only been in PKR for 2 years, to outrank him.

But Anwar stood his ground and would have none other than Zaid. That is how Zaid was parachuted in Hulu Selangor. He is looking out of sorts and somewhat bewildered because his lifestyle and that of the people he’s shaking hands with now are poles apart.

This wealthy lawyer, who has admitted to be a drinker and keeps a stable of horses, is not synching with the kampung psyche.

If Zaid were to be placed in the Batu constituency – which may be vacant should Tian Chua be proven guilty and be jailed or fined considerably by the court for causing harm to a policeman last year – he might win hands down.

Among affluent societies and in city areas, Zaid may have the edge. But in Hulu Selangor, it would be difficult for rural voters to support him due to his frowned-upon lifestyle.

His awkwardness and ignorance in Hulu Selangor was glaring when during his walkabout in Kuala Kubu Baru yesterday, he said,“I ask the Indian community. Do you want to believe them or me? I am sure they will believe me because long-standing problems concerning the Indians here have not been resolved after 18 years. Also, people here basically want to see development, and more job opportunities. Land issues are another concern raised.”

Unknowingly, Zaid had just confirmed that PKR – despite ruling Selangor after the last general elections with promises of instant changes and developments – had not done anything for the people since they won over the state in March 2008.

And if he wins, will Zaid be able to serve the Hulu Selangor folks effectively when he has to battle the likes of Azmin and PAS in his own backyard? We don’t think so.

It’s Johari Kassim’s Turn Now (The PKR Donkey) June 18, 2009

Johari Kassim

Johari Kassim

It is Johari Kassim’s turn now after the humiliation exit of Mohamad Fairus Khairudin as Penang Deputy Chief Minister 1.

Johari or better known as Joe Kassim is the Seberang Perai Municipal Council whip. He was former Balik Pulau Umno youth committee member.

Joe has now become the target of certain leaders in PKR Penang who are bent to bring him down due to his arrogance. They also called Joe a donkey and deemed him as power crazy and an ‘enemy within.’

He left Umno following the sacking of Anwar Ibrahim as Deputy Prime Minister and Umno deputy president and joined PKR.

Joe contested the Teluk Bahang state seat in 1999 and lost to Datuk Seri Hilmi Yahaya. He tried his luck again in Teluk Air Tawar in the 11th General Election and lost.

Joe

Joe

Being frustrated following his two defeats, Joe did not contest in the March 8, GE. Joe was even frustrated when Pakatan-Rakyat won in Penang and in four other states and he missed the boat to be an elected representative.

Joe is said to be hot-tempered. He was the PKR leader implicated by former state PKR Wanita chief Aminah Abdullah who threatened to slap her during a PKR meeting in Seberang Jaya. Aminah was the independent candidate who made the expose that she was offered money and post by PKR if she withdrew from the Penanti by-election.

Joe has been the main subject of discussion among Penang PKR leaders of late.

He was in the spotlight when he led six other MPSP councilors to boycott the swearing-in ceremony of the new MPSP president Mokhtar Mohd Jait recently.

Joe was adamant that the post should be given to PKR and not a civil servant. He claimed that the understanding was agreed upon in a meeting between PKR and DAP leaders.

Penang Deputy Chief Minister 1 Dr Mansor Osman said that action would be taken against Joe for his action.

Even Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng refused to meet Joe as he deemed Joe’s action as disrespectful and had tarnished the image of the Pakatan-Rakyat state government.

Well Joe, that is the price you have to pay. Your loyalty to Anwar and PKR has become secondary and less important now.

Who’s next after this?

Victory That Means Nothing June 6, 2009

Anwar Ibrahim said the mandate given by the people to PKR in the Penanti by-election was highly encouraging.

His statement was rebuffed by the Election Commission chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Yusof who replied that it was the worst voters turnout in Malaysia’s election history since 1955.

The hype, sentiments, propaganda and emotions attempted by PKR and Anwar during the campaign period failed to arouse voters as the turnout said it all.

Only 7,101 of the 15, 384 registered voters or 46.15% cast their votes at the nine polling stations during the by-election.

As expected, PKR’s Dr Mansor Othman (did he really obtain his doctorate on merit) won by beating three independent candidates. He was subsequently appointed Penang DCM1.

So, what is Anwar shouting about? His rhetoric that the people are sending strong message to Putrajaya and blah, blah, blah did not reflect the real sentiment of the rakayat.

PKR could not even obtain 50% support in their home turf, Penanti despite the absence of Barisan Nasional.

In fact, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said PKR’s win is no big deal and cannot be used to gauge its popularity because the party was only challenged by independent candidates.

He said it was also hardly an encouraging win as only less than half of the voters in the constituency cast their votes.

”It is not a victory to be proud of,” he told the Malaysian pressmen covering the Asean-South Korea Commemorative Summit here yesterday.

Mansor garnered 6,052 votes. Independents Nai-Kan Ari obtained 494 votes while Aminah Abdullah and Kamarul Ramizu obtained 392 and 56 votes respectively.

It was also not much of a victory for Mansor because he obtained less votes than his predecessor, former Penang Chief Minister 1 Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin..

Peaceful By ElectionVictory over who

In the general election last year, Mohammad Fairus won the seat by polling 7,346 votes, beating Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Abdul Jalil Abdul Majid with a majority of 2,219 votes.

Anwar’s Big Headache March 24, 2009

Speculations are again rife that Anwar Ibrahim will make a second attempt to wheedle Seberang Jaya state assemblyman Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah to join PKR by offering him the Penang Deputy Chief Minister’s 1 post vacated by Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin last week.

Anwar knows that Arif is one unhappy man in Umno as Arif has been constantly suppressed by his Permatang Pauh division chief Datuk Abdul Jalil Abdul Majid.

It is believed that PKR state information chief who is also a state executive councillor Abul Malik Kassim, the Batu Uban state assemblyman, may not get the post.

Abul Malik who has been eyeing the post was behind the orchestrating of Fairus’ resignation. Both of them had been involved in backbiting ever since they assumed office after last year’s March 8 general assembly.

Abul Malik was the Tanjung Umno division youth chief in the early 90s. He was operating a travel agency based in Komtar before he joined Anwar.

Fairus has relinquished all his positions in the state government except his state assemblyman post.

A close aide to Penang Chief Minister told me that Fairus may be asked to vacate his Penanti state seat to make way for a new person to contest the seat if Anwar fails to smooth-talk Arif.

The person will subsequently be appointed to replace Fairus as the new Penang Deputy Chief Minister 1 if he wins.

But what if PKR fails to defend the seat? I think it is too risky for Anwar to take that chance as he is aware that Prime Minister in-waiting Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is getting momentum in his agenda to reforms and make changes in Umno and the government.

And Barisan Nasional may wrest the seat if it is contested.

Lim is washing his hands over Fairus’ resignation issue and has repeatedly said that it is Anwar’s territory and he should be the one to answer all questions about Fairus.

Anwar is having a big “headache” now to control his own party and men. And he may suffer even a BIGGER HEADACHE to prove his innocent when his sodomy trial begins.

Fairus Finally Resigns As Penang DCM March 21, 2009

The embattled Penang Deputy Chief Minister Mohamad Fairus Khairuddin finally succumbed to pressures for him to resign from the post.

His resignation did not come as a surprise as it has been predicted and a matter of time.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has confirmed receiving Fairus’s resignation letter yesterday. (March 21).

I have highlighted many of Fairus’s wrongdoings and his inability to serve as a leader in my previous postings and most of them are justifiable.

I believe the last straw that broke Lim’s back is when he discovered that Fairus is involved in taking bribes from quarry operators in Penanti, Bukit Mertajam, to cover up their illegal activities.

(Please refer to my previous posting titled News Break: Fairus On The Take? He Is Also Dropped)

It is good that Fairus steps down as he has not done anything for the Malays in Penang. He is only interested to serve his personal interests and pockets.

I hope the people will continue to expose and reveal all misdeeds and wrongdoings committed by leaders in Pakatan Rakyat, including Lim and Anwar Ibrahim.

It shows now that they are no better than leaders of the previous Barisan Nasional Penang Government. Fairus has only assumed the post of the Deputy Chief Minister’s post barely a year ago and just look at the number of misdeeds and wrongdoings he had committed.

Like I said, Pakatan-Rakyat leaders are merely a set of Pots Calling The Kettle Black. They like to make A Mountain Out Of A Molehill of Barisan’s past gaffe but they fail to see their own image in the mirror.

I Wonder Why Anwar Is So Afraid To Face The Truth March 12, 2009

Why is Anwar Ibrahim so afraid to face the court? His lawyers have been fighting to stop his ongoing sodomy case from being transferred to the High Court.

While Anwar’s lawyers are exhausting all avenues to buy time, Anwar’s sodomy victim, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, is happy that the case will be heard in High court.

This is a QUESTION that we must ask ourselves. Why is Anwar is so troubled by the case if he is not guilty.

We have to face reality and the truth that Anwar is fearful that Saiful will “tell all” in the open court. Anwar is also terrified that the prosecution team will spill the bin and provide a case beyond doubt and spring surprises that will jolt Anwar during trial … and I believe anwar knows that the prosecution team have solid and “air-tight” evidence against him.

This is why Anwar is trying to postpone and delay his case on many occasions.

He is afraid that his supporters will desert him and his Pakatan-Rakyat coalition will disintegrate into thin air when the truth is revealed.

Saiful’s lawyer Zamri Idrus in a recent statement said that his client hoped that by tranferring the case to High Court would speed up the trial so that he could appear to give his testimony as soon as possible.

I wonder what happen to the medical report purportedly issued a doctor from the Pushwari Medical Centre alleging that Anwar did not commit the despicable act.

The doctor is also missing.

I will not mention the title Datuk Seri when I mention Anwar Ibrahim’s name in my write-ups as it is not because I hate him so much but I don’t think he deserves the title.

For the second time in a month, the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has condemned Anwar and his supporters for being rude, ill mannered and unabashed, given that they had been nurtured from the time of their ancestors in the customs and traditions, good behavior and courteousness.

The Sultan is irate with the recent political turmoil caused by Anwar and those who had constantly provoked and questioned the position and constitutional rights of the Malay rulers.

Sultan Sharafuddin said though the Malays would not be eliminated from the earth, it would be pointless for them to remain as an uncivilised and unrespected society that can be easily manipulated by others.

Anwar was instrumental in acceding to Karpal Singh’s daring statement challenging the Sultan of Perak.

Anwar is also behind the racial statements and slurs made by Chinese and Indian leaders against the Malays.

Anwar is the perpetrator behind the orchestrated court cases filed by the defunct Perak state assembly speaker V. Sivakumar and former Mentri Besar Nizar Jamaludin and others challenging the rights of the Sultan of Perak.

The habitual sodomite is also the culprit causing the split among the Malays in this country.

I agree with Sultan Sharifuddin that Melayu will not be extinct from the earth. What I am worried is that it will only remain as the Melayu in baju Melayu and Keretapi Tanah Melayu.

Tree House Is Only Fit for Monkeys March 7, 2009

THE leader of the Tree House (I thought tree house is only meant for monkeys), V. Sivakumar, has failed in his bid to be represented by his appointed counsels in two civil suits against him filed by the state government.

Well, that sums it all – doing monkey business by someone who doesn’t even know the law, albeit, holding the highest position in the noble House.

It is an open secret that Anwar Ibrahim is the culprit behind the shameful and ignominious act of PKR Perak assemblymen in holding the controversial state assembly session under a tree after they were barred from entering the House.

Like I said, trees are associated with monkeys and those seen participating in the illegal state assembly session are actually behaving like primates and embarrassing the country.

These blokes just do not care about law and order as long as they serve Anwar’s political ends.

I wonder when Anwar’s political circus is going to end. I do not see Anwar making any efforts to help the rakyat who are now grappling with the current economic turmoil.

And I have not heard Anwar making any plan or suggestion to help the country weather the economic storm.

He was quick to offer his “economic stimulus package” and other economic plans as well as a promise to reduce petrol prices during the height of the petrol crisis and before the 12th general election.

But why is he keeping quiet now when the country is facing real economic problem? Has he forgotten about the rakyat?

That’s Anwar. He will use the rakyat to his maximum advantage and pursue his political ambitions. Let us not be fooled by the BIG MONKEY.

Dissenting In PKR Penang Worsens March 4, 2009

The current political storm has not only swept the former ‘Tin Mine’ state of Perak but the tempest is also brewing in Penang.

Dissenting in PKR Penang is reaching its peak following the latest expulsion of Zainal Abidin Saad who was Special Officer to Mohamad Fairus Khairuddin, the beleaguered Penang Deputy chief Minister. Zainal was “fired” by his boss Fairus, on February 9, the seventh officer axed by Fairus since he assumed office about a year ago. Zainal, who is Anwar’s close aide, has sworn that he would take on Fairus in the next general election if Fairus decides to defend his Penanti state seat.

PKR Batu Uban state assemblyman Abdul Malik Kassim has taken over the portfolio of state Islamic Religious Committee chairman from Fairus who was recently dropped from the post. State PKR chairman Zahrain Hashim confirmed this after his meeting with Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng. The long-standing feud and power struggle between Abdul Malik and Fairus saw the former emerging as winner as Fairus has fallen out of favor not only with his boss Anwar, but also Guan Eng.

Guan Eng has lost for words on how to discipline Fairus as Fairus is not under his purview politically but was chosen by Anwar to warm the Deputy Chief Minister’s seat which was allocated to PKR under the Pakatan-Rakyat power sharing concept.

Guan Eng was also caught with his pants down when Fairus was implicated in a corruption case exposed by PKR’s national exco youth member Amizudin Ahmad who was former Seberang Perai Municipal councillor in his no-holds barred Press conference recently.

Well, it is time for Guan Eng, who has been talking about his CAT (Competency, Accountability and Transparency) philosophy to walk the talk and take action against Fairus. But does Guan Eng have the political will to do so?

Lets Hope The April Fool Joke Will Be On Anwar March 3, 2009

I sighed a huge relief when I heard news that our Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi reaffirms his commitment to hand over power to his deputy, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Of course, the people are apprehensive, as they have heard nothing about power transition between the No 1 and No 2.

All they heard was speculations, rumors and gossips about how Pak Lah wanted to cling on to power despite having less than a month in office.

Pak Lah said he would stick to the plan to hand over the prime ministership to Najib.

“That is the plan that I have made, so we will have to follow the plan,” Pak Lah was quoted as saying by the all the newspapers.

We hope he will honor his promises as anything can happen in this crucial one-month period. I believe it will be the longest one-month in Najib’s life but let’s pray to Allah that Najib will eventually assume the No 1 post after the next Umno general assembly.

This literally means that Najib will officially assumes office on April 1. I hope it will not turn out to be an APPRIL FOOL joke.

It will be a crushing blow for the Opposition, especially habitual sodomite, Anwar Ibrahim, as he was hoping that Pak Lah would remain in office so that he could continue to wreak havoc and tear the nation into pieces through his divide and rule stratagem.

It is time that Anwar and his supporters realize that he is not THE FACTOR that determines the future and course of the country. It is the people who will ultimately decide who should lead the country and what they want the country to be like.

Come April 1, the joke will be on Anwar and not Najib.
