Congratulations to Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak for his appointment as the country’s 6th Prime Minister after he was sworn in at the Istana Negara this morning (April 3).
We hope the country will be able to weather the current economic and political turmoil under his stewardship.
Let us rally and give our support to him for the sake of peace and stability of the country. This is the least we could do and contribute as Malaysians to help Najib steer the nation to greater heights and economic prosperity.
Najib has presented the rakyat with a perfect gift as the new Prime Minister, when he announced the release of 13 ISA detainees from the Kamunting detention camp with immediate effect.
This shows his commitment to further improve the long-standing negative perception and discontentment on the ISA among the people, especially the Opposition.
The lifting on the ban of Harakah and Suara Keadilan, is also a testament to Najib’s commitment to freedom of the Press and Expression.
His stimulus packages have also shown some positive signs to cushion the impact of the current global economic crunch while his pledge to reform Umno and the Government is well-received by the people.
The announcement by Tun M to rejoin and return to Umno is a bonus to Najib and make his task to reform the party easier. Tun M decision to campaign for Barisan Nasional in the Batang Ai, Bukit Gantang and Bukit Selambau tri-elections is seen as an early victory to BN.
We hope BN will record a clean sweep in the tri-elections as a gift to Najib as the new PM and to demonstrate our overwhelming support to him and endorsement of his policies.
Najib is inheriting his late father Tun Abdul Razak Hussein’s legacy and he has begun his journey as a Prime Minister on a strong footing and favourable circumstances, except in the economy.
I wish Najib all the best.
