A new chapter in Umno begins today (March24). The whole nation is watching closely Umno 59th general assembly, dubbed as the most important assembly in Umno’s history.

A breed of new leaders are expected to be selected in consonant with demands from the rakyat, especially the Malays, who want the party to reform, change and rid off its elite brand and status.

Focus will on Prime Minister in-waiting Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as the task to reform and change the party will be shouldered by him and his dream team.

The tri-election in Bukit Gantang, Bukit Selambau and Batang Ai will be decisive and a barometer to gauge Najib’s image and support from the rakyat.

The tri-election will also dictate Najib’s next course of action as the country’s 6th Prime Minister.

Najib began his reform agenda on a very convincing note with his tagline Change Or Be Changed. A change the people has been waiting for.

This has to be translated into reality and genuineness, and not just idealism.

He has to get rid all the bad apples and warlords, who have been damaging the party’s image and reputation.

UMNO needs quality leaders and not quantity to fill up quotas and seats.

We hope the 2,500-odd delegates will choose reform and not ‘misinform’ when they exercise their voting power to determine the future of UMNO and the Malays.

Below are my prediction of the dream team needed by Najib to carry out his agenda to reform and change the future course of UMNO.

1. President – Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak

2. Deputy President – Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin

3. Vice Presidents – Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Tun Hussein, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim

4. Wanita chief – Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil

5. Youth Chief – Datuk Mukriz Tun Dr Mahathir

Well rakyat, “Kita yang merancang, tuhan yang menentukan”, so Najib can plan as he wishes nevertheless, its god that determine…

3. Syed - March 25, 2009

If they don’t get their act right they are in for a big suprise in the next PRU! Imagine that they can’t even get thier civil servants happy .. how can they keep the rakyat happy!

4. Shafiq - March 25, 2009

Be real man, look what happen to Datuk Mukriz Tun Dr Mahathir, maybe his dad talks too much! He should probably keep his mouth shut to let the government do their work! I am sure Najib can do wonders with his team evven if Datuk Mukriz Tun Dr Mahathir is not in it, provided the other reitred people don’t maddle. We should all stand behind Najib to support him through this tough time.
