Even DAP chairman Karpal Singh is stumped. He is perplexed over the decision taken by Nutty Speaker V. Sivakumar for suspending Perak Mentri Besar and his six state executive councillors from attending the state legislative assembly sitting.
As a seasoned lawyer and politician, Karpal is lost for words for Sivakumar’s overzealous action. Karpal said Sivakumar must call the assembly to meet to endorse his decision to suspend the seven.
Pakatan-Rakyat lawyers also agreed with Karpal. They said they the move was totally unexpected as they had painstakingly gone through the state’s constitution and the assembly Standing Orders and were strongly against the suspension move.
“I honestly do not know whose advice he (Sivakumar) took before making up his mind (to suspend the seven),” one of the lawyers said.
Parliament Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia said Sivakumar was daring to suspend the mentri besar and the six state exco member. “If I were him, I would not have dared to do it,” he said.
Deputy Speaker Datuk Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the decision by the Committee of Special Privilege to suspend the seven was not valid.
Home Minister Datuk Syed Seri Hamid Albar said the Speaker had become “the instigator, the prosecutor and the judge at the same time. “We wonder what they will do if they are given power,” he said.
