I hope the latest news about the beleaguered Penang Deputy Chief Minister Mohamad Fairus Khairudin that was tipped off to me is reliable and accurate.

It is not malicious intended but there must be some truth in it when it comes from the horse’s mouth, i.e. Parti Keadilan esteemed and hardcore supporters themselves.

I also hope that the tale was also whispered to the big ears of Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng who had been talking non-stop about good governance, clean, responsible, trustworthy, transparent, accountable etc. etc. state government.

I was told that Fairus now owns a RM350,000 525 BMW car and an E240 Mercedes Benz worth over RM200,000, barely after a year after he assumed the post of DCM.

Wow! That’s a great achievement for someone who, in the year 2007, drove a threadbare Peugeot 406 and rode a ragged Honda C70 motorcyle which are now being left to rot at his Selayang home.

I am surprise that Guan Eng is playing deaf and dumb about this.

I was also informed that Fairus still owes an entrepreneur, Zulkifli Saad, a PKR loyalist, some RM13,000 for renovating and supplying furniture for his service centre in Penanti, Permatang Pauh.

Renovation work was completed in September last year and was officially opened for operations during last year’s holy month of Ramadan.

What upsets Zul most is that Fairus is the exco member in-charge of Islamic Religious and Entrepreneurship in the state. Well Zul, what can you expect and hope from someone who used to earn peanuts and could not meet ends in the past.

I was also made to understand that Fairus is entitled for a RM1,500 monthly allowance to maintain his service centre of which RM1,000 is to pay salary for a staff manning the centre while the balance is to be used to pay utility bills for the centre.

The staff had complained that he is paid only RM500 although he was promised RM700 monthly.

I am flabbergasted!
