It’s Everyone’s Role, Not Just Najib January 23, 2009

Umno’s “Dirty Dozen” who were arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission only formed the tip of the iceberg.

Umno needs a complete and major overhaul and it should be done from NOW.

I know it is an uphill battle for Prime Minister in-waiting Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to cleanse the party but looking at the scenario in Umno now, he does not have any other option.

He has to take this bold measure or Umno will be history.

The people’s expectations are very high, as they demand for change from the party.

Najib has to use the whip in his crackdown on Umno deadwood and remove excess baggage.

Noticeably, the old guards in the party, particularly leaders at divisional level, are his main stumbling block. They form barricades for Umno to move frontward.

They cling on to power for as long as they can dream and considered themselves indispensable.

These are the people that have made Umno, a party once considered as the people’s choice, the Malays, to a party which is averse to them.

They talked about the need to change and the need to listen to the people. But do they walk the talk? These are the spoilt brats in Umno.

Although, the just concluded Kuala Terengganu by-election should not be used as a barometer to gauge the people’s support for Umno, it has far-reaching effects on the shape and future of Umno.

I shall not delve too much on the by-election as the writing is on the wall. It’s everyone’s responsibility now. Not just Najib.

Well said and I am sure Datuk Seri Najib has the ability to do it. What ever happen I am one of those that will be with him all the way. Unfortunately I am only a small fellow in the arena.

Well done, I hope the authorities will cooperate to help UMNO clean up and make them more credible although it seemed an impossible task, but god willing it will be done!
