Pangkor state assemblyman Datuk Dr Zamry Abdul Kadir, the son of a fisherman who was brought up from a poor family in the island resort of Pangkor, has been named as the new Mentri Besar of Perak.
He replaces Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, the former Perak MB who was ‘fired’ by the Sultan of Perak late this afternoon after he lost the majority support in the state assembly.
The rakyat in Perak are brimming with confidence after news spread that Dr Zamry has been appointed as their new Mentri Besar. They want to move forward and forget about the dark episode of the 10-month Pakatan-Rakyat rule in Perak.
The economy is the pinnacle in the list of their agenda and Dr Zamry knows that very well.
Dr Zamry will be sworn-in as the new Perak Mentri Besar before Sultan Azlan Shah at Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar tomorrow (Friday 3.30pm) while the new state exco line-up will be announced next week and they will be sworn in on Feb 10.
What surprises me is that Pakatan-Rakyat leaders are very sore over the week-long political fiasco in Perak that led to the collapse of the PR state government.
They are very unhappy and refuse to accept the truth that they are no longer wanted in Perak.
They even went to the extent of filing a suit at the Ipoh High Court to make a ruling that the three state seats namely Changkat Jering, Behrang and Jelapang are vacant. The seats were held by PR exco members who have resigned from the party and declared themselves as Independent candidates “friendly” to BN.
Speculations are also rife that Dato’ Sri Anwar Ibrahim or the King of Frog, as he was labelled by Gerakan president Tan Sri Dr Tsu Koon, is planning a mass demonstration to protest against the Sultan of Perak’ verdict to “fire” Mohammad Nizar and his rejection to Nizar’s request to dissolve the Perak state assembly.
This is an act of treason and disrespectful of the Sultan. We cannot blame Dato’ Sri Anwar Ibrahim as street demonstration has become his way of life and deep-rooted in him. It is his way of getting things done, the violent, uncivilised and barbaric style.
It was Dato’ Sri Anwar Ibrahim who had made proposal to bring back the immunity of the Rulers when he spoke at PKR’s general assembly a few months back. Has he forgotten what he had said before?
Well, that’s Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. You cannot blame him either as he might have also forgotten the names of people he had slept with and sodomised.
